Paintings
These paintings investigate the intersection of personal and public spaces. I'm interested in examining how consumer culture shapes our subconscious, identity and relationships.
“Paper Bullets: A War of Words,” an exhibition at Intersection for the Arts in San Francisco, featured new work that responds to and re-contextualizes PSYOPs (psychological operations) leaflets, as well as a 50-year survey of psychological warfare & military propaganda. My focus was subtle, everyday imagery potent to the American civilian psyche: the disconnect from war reflected in the banality of a dairy case, fashions signifying civility in a time of brutality, and Sam Fisher, a video game character representing covert action and unknown military threats.
