the pleasures and sorrows of human adaptability

This mixed-media project in the shape of an oversized chocolate bar is inspired by the psychological phenomenon of human adaptability. Humans enjoy the advantage of adapting to pain and discomfort, but also suffer diminishing returns in pleasures. As Paul Martin, author of Sex, Drugs, and Chocolate, notes, the first taste of a chocolate bar will always be the best one.
